We know that applying for and taking on a new job at any company requires a leap of faith. We want you to feel comfortable and excited to apply to Squash Revolution. To share a bit more about what it means to work for Squash Revolution, here you will find some resources (in addition to the job descriptions) that will give you an inside look into our company.  Hopefully you will take the leap of faith and apply.

About Squash Revolution

At Squash Revolution we believe that, with the right people and the right mindset, we will have a greater chance of success and a greater impact on the community. Likewise, we insist in the effectiveness of working in small teams, because to us that means less bureaucracy and more "getting things done".

We also believe that credentials are not what makes someone valuable, but instead it is his/her passion and commitment what ultimately determines someone's value. This is just to say that,  what you love to do and how committed you are to doing it right, is significantly more important to us than any credentials you might hold.

Last but not least, every employee at Squash Revolution agrees to a code of conduct that keeps our company a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for all.

Our Commitment to you

Unfortunately, the hiring process at many companies feels like a black box. You apply, wait for weeks, and never hear back—and you're left wondering why you even applied in the first place. The lack of communication reinforces self-doubt and imposter syndrome grows. Applying for a new role takes courage, and it's hard to muster that courage when—more often than not—your only reward is silence.
Our hiring process is different. We want you to know that when you apply for a role, you are going to hear back from us, even if we do not seem like a good fit. In fact, throughout the process we strive to make sure you never go more than seven days without hearing from us.
To be completely transparent, here's what happens when you apply for a position at Squash Revolution.
  1. Applying: When you apply for a role at Squash Revolution, the application goes into our application tracking software. Here, a hiring team of three to four people—people you will work closely with if you are hired for this role—will review your application.
  2. Evaluation: The application is then evaluated based on evidence that demonstrates that you have the relevant skills for the job. We also evaluate each applicant's writing and communication skills, along with their knowledge of Squash Revolution as a company and a product. We realize that no candidate is flawless, so we look for candidates who, regardless of their strengths and weaknesses, will still be able to add value to our team as a whole.
  3. Job Fit Interview: Once we have reviewed the initial batch of applicants, the top five to ten applicants join for a video conversation on Skype about the role with our Hiring Team. Here you will be asked questions that dig into your relevant experience for this role, and you will have a chance to evaluate whether or not Squash Revolution matches up with the values you look for in an employer. If you do not make it to this step of the process, you will hear back from us letting you know that we are passing over your application for this role.
  4. Skills Interview: After the conversation with the Hiring Team, you will go through a short verbal skills test. Typically this test is done over a Skype audio or video call. This is a practical evaluation to see if you have the relevant skills to succeed in the role. You will not be evaluated on skills that do not matter. For example, we will not give you whiteboard algorithm quizzes, or ask you how many golf balls could fit inside a school bus. For some positions, we will also evaluate relevant skills by administering a short exercise done outside of the regular test.
  5. Reference Check: During the reference check, we reach out to the references you provided to get a better idea of what it is like to work with you. For the record, a reference check has never prevented us from hiring someone, but we do take references seriously. We may also reach out to your past colleagues, even if you did not provide them as references, to get a less biased viewpoint. If you are currently employed, we can assure you that we will not reach out to your current employer without your permission.
  6. Final Decision: After the reference check, we evaluate each of the candidates that made it to this stage, and the hiring team will make a decision. If multiple candidates meet our hiring criteria, we will select whoever we consider to be the best candidate. If no candidates meet the hiring criteria, we then solicit more candidates and start the process again.
  7. Offer: Once references are complete and a final decision on our end has been made, we will make an offer to you including details about salary, benefits and other relevant compensation details. Hopefully, you will accept our offer, so that we can start discussing your start date and on boarding plan.

At each point in this process, we promise not to go silent on you. We strive to never go more than seven days without letting you know the status of your application. Thank you for considering a career at Squash Revolution, and I hope this will encourage you to take that leap of faith with us.

Culture and Values

As a company, we strive to make more and more people aware about the great sport that is squash. We want to help you focus on the work that matters, so that you can help us grow our sport all over the world, but particularly in our communities.

Today we serve over 4000 people. We hope to one day serve every squash player or club in the world.
To make that happen, though, we have to invest in each other and invest in our team—especially since we are a small, but fast-growing company. Our culture is the primary way we achieve our organizational goals, and the way we have defined our company's culture is through a shared set of common values. These values guide us all at Squash Revolution when it comes to making decisions, interacting with coworkers and customers, and getting work done.

The Squash Revolution Team Values

1. Default to Action
We believe in getting things done. If you have a great idea for a project or see a problem that needs fixing, you ought to take action instead of waiting for the perfect plan. It's better to deliver something real today over something maybe better later. If you are unsure how to move forward, consider that you should spend as much time on a decision as it takes to undo it. The corollary to that is that most decisions can be undone quickly. Most decisions are changeable. So when approaching a problem, it is taking that step now—not later—that is most important.

2. Default to Transparency
It is important to make your work, processes, and systems available to everyone. We build our work on the information that we share with each other across the organization through documents, team updates and even chats. No matter who you are or what your role is, you have access to the information you need to make good decisions on behalf of the organization.

3. Be Specific
Most companies have vague values, give ambiguous feedback to each other, communicate in buzzwords, or sell products using handy-wavy fluff. At Squash Revolution, we try to get specific with our values, our feedback, and our communication. Being specific helps us take action on problems despite any ambiguity that might exist.

4. Empathy, Not Ego
We strive to put together a great team at Squash Revolution. All our teammates are here because they are smart, skilled, and reliable. As a result, we trust one another, and with that trust there's no room for ego. So we walk a mile in our customer's and teammate's shoes when making decisions and we put our own self-interest second in any problems we solve.

5. Don't be a Robot, be a Legend
No matter your role, from time-to-time you will find yourself doing repetitive, low-value work. In these situations, we strive to automate or systematize tasks by investing in tools and processes that lead to outsized impact. We strive to have individual team members at Squash Revolution be more efficient than a comparable role at another similar type company—improving their own personal productivity and career while helping Squash Revolution as a whole.

Code of Conduct

The Squash Revolution team is made up of professionals from all over the world,  and we work together on improving every aspect of the company.

The workplace at Squash Revolution is positive, supportive and inclusive. We also want it to stay that way as the team grows. To that end, we have a few ground rules that we ask people to adhere to. This code applies equally to everyone involved at Squash Revolution.

This is not an exhaustive list of things that you are forbidden from doing. Rather, take it in the spirit in which it is intended - a guideline for making sure everyone at Squash Revolution is happy, productive and safe.

This code of conduct applies to all spaces managed or participated in by Squash Revolution. This includes our internal tools (Hubspot, Trello, email, etc.) Squash Revolution retreats and events, and any other forums created by the Squash Revolution team, which are used for communication. In addition, violations of this code outside these spaces may affect a person's ability to access them.

If you believe someone is violating the code of conduct, we ask that you report it by going straight to your supervisor (or supervisor's supervisor in the case that you are reporting your supervisor).

  • Be friendly and patient.

  • Be welcoming. We strive to be a company that welcomes and supports people of all backgrounds and identities. This includes, but is not limited to members of any race, ethnicity, culture, national origin, color, immigration status, social and economic class, educational level, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, age, size, family status, health status, political belief, religion, and mental and physical ability.

  • Be considerate. Your work will be used by other people, and you in turn will depend on the work of others. Any decision you make will affect users and colleagues, and you should take those consequences into account when making decisions. Remember that we're a worldwide company, so you might not be communicating in someone else's primary language.

  • Be respectful. Not all of us will agree all the time, but disagreement is no excuse for poor behavior and poor manners. We might all experience some frustration now and then, but we cannot allow that frustration to turn into a personal attack. It is important to remember that a company where people feel uncomfortable or threatened is not a productive one. Members of Squash Revolution should be respectful when dealing with other teammates as well as with people outside the Squash Revolution team.

  • Be responsible. During company retreats, team outings, other in-person events, and any contact with Prospective Clients you are a representative of Squash Revolution . Be mindful of your limits and respectful of others' limits when it comes to alcohol and physical activity. Leaning on a teammate to make sure you are staying safe and responsible is a smart and welcomed practice.

  • Be careful of the words that you choose. We are a community of professionals, and we conduct ourselves professionally. Be kind to others. Do not insult or put down other participants. Harassment and other exclusionary behavior are not acceptable. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Violent threats or language directed against another person.
    • Discriminatory jokes and language.
    • Posting sexually explicit or violent material.
    • Personal insults, especially those using racist or sexist terms.
    • Unwelcome sexual attention.
    • Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behavior.
    • Repeated harassment of others. In general, if someone asks you to stop, then stop.
    • Hazing or the imposition of humiliating tasks as initiation rights to new teammates.

When we disagree, try to understand why. Disagreements, both social and technical, happen all the time and Squash Revolution is no exception. It is important that we resolve disagreements and differing views constructively. Remember that we are all different. The strength of Squash Revolution comes from its varied teammates, people from a wide range of backgrounds. Different people have different perspectives on issues. Being unable to understand why someone holds a viewpoint does not mean that they are wrong. Do not forget that making mistakes part of being human, and blaming each other does not get us anywhere. Instead, focus on helping to resolve issues and learning from mistakes.
